Life as we know it... LA Fashion Week

If you know me you would know that I am BOLD RISKY and a CHALLENGE when it comes to fashion. My wardrobe consists of an array of colors, fabrics, prints and looks that all differ. Do not get it twisted I can calm it down but for the most part 90% of the time I am pretty LOUD. Standing out is my movement, I do not wanna look or feel like the average girl... EVER. I wanna bring you into my world of styling and fashion in LA. I remember my first photoshoot for a leather accessory brand called MBARQGO. An American-European line that ranges from wallets to wait holsters I was honored to add my opinion of going with Chic but dark look... I would just say its a sexy vision of Matrix. lol.


I knew then of course I wanna go more serious even with networking and branding myself in general. As of now I have been introduced to the launch of clothing lines and interning at a Marketing, Fashion, and Consulting company called Martini Factory. This week was LA Fashion Week and may I say I enjoyed every moment I met and mingled with the most coolest up and coming designers and brands! The first show I went to that kicked off LA Fashion Week is American Stitch by designer Tony Esperza. His threads were FUCKING AMAZING! Its a denim line that premiered and wants to capture the LA audience to the MAX and of course the designer is LA based. Check him out >>>>

Advocacy and Faces...My internship

So everyday is a blessing in my opinion! I have met good folks in LA and bad folks, but I believe its what you attract. By the goodness of God I have manage to meet all good while encountering bad but the bad fade away 90% of the time. Well I usually do not go into what I do but outside of fashion I am striving my career in Public Health. With this career that I am trying to accomplish while finishing school, I have met some people that are advocacy committed. I intern at APLA (AIDS Project Los Angeles) and I love it! I am able to look REALITY in the face every moment and I cherish and value it. At APLA we give services and resources to AIDS/HIV impacted communities and those infected of the disease. Pretty Cool! While working at APLA I see both the personal and logistic side of the agency. Some of the greatest people come through the doors everyday! From students to celebs you never know, and this makes APLA so surprising in every way. I just wanna take the time outside of the GLAM GLITZ & FUN of LA a show the softer side of what I do in-kind and why I enjoy it. xoxoxox muah

I have always had the eye for something new, unique and distinctive when it comes to clothing. I hated wearing and looking the "common folk" that crossed my path. Every shopping experience would outdo the last but the feeling... The feeling was the SAME! AHHHHH I screamed in dressing rooms and going home to that same closet with the same looks. But you know what that shopping experience of 2004 was much bigger this time! In late 2003 going into 2004 which kicked-off the time of me going to college I met a native Detroiter by the name of Charketa "Char" G. And coming out of the same venue I had got a glimpse of the most cutest and flowy dress ever! It was bizarre! Moving quickly I was giving a business Comp card that displayed the various looks from wear this "Dress" came from! I knew then okay I have to check it out and the kicker is everything was handmade!!!! That very next week I went into the store and in the window display was "Vintage Re-carnation" to the max! I was moving and zipping through the store like a kid in the candy store.
I seen things that I knew no one else would have and was cut for my shape! (And if you know me or knew me then I had hips for days lol) Anywho splurging every red-cent I had was not a factor when it came to these pieces! Being a proud shopper since 2003-present, I have seen the move from Detroit to LA with the line of Couture presented through Chargrels Couture (Where all the FLYYY Girlz Shop). It was so Ironic because I had moved to LA and was shopping only when I went to visit home in Detroit, but something happened... Well while facebook cruising and being a client of the infamous designer I read the status update: Moving to LA...Chargrels is going westcoast!!!!! When I say I dropped my mouth five times I dropped my mouth five times! Because no longer did I have to deal with only shopping at home, this time shopping was coming home to me! Happened to link and once a business friendship became a friendship that shared the same interest as me in Fashion (no homo) lol! I am able to now see the clothes evolve and look so different (not saying they ever looked alike) but it had this NEW spunk to it, now that it is Westcoast! I am already a Fashion Intern, and with having someone you know design I get to see the logistics of how Her company works and moves and must I say it is the BOMB.com!!!! Between meeting deadlines, helping with creative imaging (pictures etc.) and going to Casting calls for models I am pooped but still in love with Chargrels Couture! #Cheers2Couture. And introducing the Self Proclaimed and already Famed Char! #Pow

New Year... But am I Old Me???

I wanna switch it up a bit... Have you ever felt that you had unanswered questions? There are just somethings that were not put to rest from the past. It is common though... Right??? There is so much that has came about from me and evolved that sometimes I cannot contain it. The question I want to ask myself is "What do you want?" I am not talking about just physically but emotionally and spiritually. Of course I know me and what I expect but I mean in regards to my completion of womanhood. I believe the first time I acknowledge my womanhood and I am not referring to my virginity, but making decisions and those feelings deep within. I have heard what breaks you only makes you stronger, but doesn't it make you weaker at some point to? Think about it, a broken heart hurts like a mothafuckah and you can regain strength by all means and become bitter, but is this bitterness a feeling of resentment that gives reasoning for you to regain your strength??? I want to change that this time. I admit I am sweet as all can be, but when you burn bridges with me I cut loose like strings on clothes. To make a long story short and not go on my random tangent, this year lets make change for 2011. No more riff raff and putting up with the bullshit people distribute. I want to grow and become more grounded with life because it's too short. I hope reading this you will take a 15 second period after and reevaluate yourself totally. I am done. fin. Mack
